About Us

Our Story

Golden Rule Automotive first opened its doors in April 1996, founded by father-and-son team Bob and Greg Hicks. In those early days, Bob handled repairs during the day while Greg worked evenings after his other job to diagnose and complete services. As the shop grew, Greg joined full-time, and by 2001 the family had purchased land and built the location where Golden Rule proudly operates today. Over the years, Greg moved into leadership—becoming shop foreman in 2002, manager in 2012, and later taking over day-to-day operations when Bob’s health declined. After Bob’s passing in 2022, Greg became owner, carrying forward the values and vision they built together.

Our Philosophy

Our name says it all—we’ve always operated under “The Golden Rule.” That means treating every car as if our own families were driving it and treating every customer with respect and care. In an industry where trust is everything, our commitment to honesty, integrity, and exceptional service sets us apart and has kept generations of customers coming back.

Our Team

Elaine – As our Customer Service Specialist, Elaine is often the first voice you’ll hear and the warm welcome you’ll feel. Her dedication to making customers feel valued shines in every interaction.
Bradly – Starting with basic maintenance, Bradly worked his way up to become a Hunter Engineering–trained alignment specialist. His loyalty and skill make him an essential part of our team.
Steve M. – With three decades in the industry, Steve began as a parts driver before becoming a respected technician. After decades at Lauro’s Garage, he joined Golden Rule in 2024, bringing both expertise and friendship into our shop.
Steve C. – After serving in the military, Steve spent 30 years mastering Saab repair before expanding into Porsche, Mazda, and other makes. Since joining us in 2022, his attention to detail and passion for precision have stood out.

Meet Greg

Greg Hicks grew up in the garage alongside his father, building airboats, hot rods, motorcycles, and even hand-crafted canoes. At just 19, he became one of the youngest ASE Master Technicians with L1 Advanced Diagnostics in the country. Outside the shop, Greg enjoys time with his wife Sara and their blended family of four grown children. Together they love traveling, snorkeling, spending quiet weekends in the mountains, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs each fall.
